Nuru - a name of Swahili origin, translates to English as meaning ‘light’. Throughout history, the name has been a symbol of illumination and enlightenment. It remains of great importance to Swahili speakers; however, it gained cross-cultural popularity for its metaphorical representation of enlightenment, which signifies people's value on knowledge and understanding.
Understanding human behaviour can be complex and challenging, especially when difficulties are present. Psychology provides a lens through which to view these behaviours by looking and considering beyond what is seen.
Informed by 20 years of psychological practice and knowledge, NURU’s mission is to enlighten, by deconstructing myths, destigmatising taboo topics, and demystifying psychology, making the application of psychologically informed thinking accessible to all.
This is done by bringing human beings back into focus, providing person-centred holistic formulations that consider needs and offer appropriate recommendations and treatment options.
NURU services are provided to legal representatives, criminal justice, health & social care agencies, family courts, schools, corporations, charity organisations, and individuals. We help individuals and services through the application of evidence-based psychological theories and methods.
NURU engages and delivers services across four domains:
